NYU Medical Center, located at 30th Street and 1st Avenue in mid-town Manhattan, is generally recognized as one of the world's best academic medical centers. NYU Medical Center consists of two different hospitals. Those two hospitals are the Tisch Hospital and the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. Tisch Hospital is a 704-bed acute care general hospital, which offers specialized procedures in neurosurgery, AIDS, cardiovascular services, reconstructive surgery, cancer treatment and transplantation.
Some of the treatment and investigative units which are located at Tisch Hospital include: Skin and Cancer Unit of the Department of Dermatology; Institute of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery; the Samuel Leidesdorf Medical Research Pavilion; and the Margaret S. Millhauser Laboratories for research in psychiatry and behavioral sciences. Over 29,000 patients (mostly from the NYC area) are admitted to Tisch Hospital each year.
Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine was founded in 1948, by Dr. Howard A. Rusk. Rusk Institute is the world's first facility devoted entirely to rehabilitation medicine, and is the largest university-affiliated center for the treatment of adults and children with disabilities.
NYU Medical Center (at press time) has several nursing positions which are open. This hospital is one of the best in New York City, one of the best in New York State, one of the best in the country, and finally one of the best in the world.
