With a generous gift from benefactor, Kurtis R. Froedtert, Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital opened it's doors in 1980. Located in the western suburbs of Milwaukee, Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital has a staff of 650 Medical College of Wisconsin physicians, to go along with some 3,000 staff members.

In 2001, in the annual publication of "Best Doctors in America", more than 100 Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital physicians were listed as being among our nation's finest. That total was the most of any Wisconsin hospital.

U.S. News and World Report, in its' 2004 issue on "America's Best Hospitals", ranked the Kidney Disease treatment offered by Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, as being the 47th best in the entire country.

Also AARP in its' magazine, Modern Maturity, ranked the Renal Care provided by Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital as being among the "Top Ten" in the nation. The AARP rankings were done by the consumer group, Consumer's Checkbook. They bse their rankings on these four criteria: medical mortality rate, surgical mortality rate, accreditation score, and physician ratings.

Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital also has one of the top 50 transplant centers in the country.
