Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is composed of: Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, Dartmouth Medical School, and the VA Medical & Regional Office Center.

Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital is a 396-bed tertiary care hospital, and has been around since 1893 (a new facility opened in 1991). Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic is a network of 900 primary and specialty care physicians who are located throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. Dartmouth Medical School is the fourth-oldest medical school in the country, as it was founded back in 1797. The Veterans Affair Medical Center opened back in 1938, and is located in White River Junction, Vermont.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center offers specialty care in these areas: cardiac care, diabetes center, pain management, The Spine Center, palliative medicine, comprehensive breast health program.

Also, DHMC is home to the Children's Hospital of Dartmouth and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

U.S. News and World Report ranked The Norris Cotton Cancer Center at DHMC, as our nation's 35th best. The rankings were in the 2004 issue of U.S. News and World Report, which rated "America's Best Hospitals". In the same issue of that prestigious magazine, the Urology Department at DHMC was ranked as the 39th best in the country.

Recently, Solucient ranked Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center as one of the top 100 Hospitals in the nation. The findings were published in Modern Healthcare magazine. Four areas are judged when determining which hospitals make the list. Those areas are: quality of care, adaptation to environment, financial performance, and operational performance.

Over 5,000 employees work at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. There are 410 physicians and 1090 RNs on staff at DHMC.

As of press time, there were openings on the nursing staff at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. DHMC offers great pay and benefits, as enticements to lure top quality people to its medical "team".
