Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston is one of our nation's finest teaching hospitals. Affiliated with the Harvard School of Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, consistently scores high marks, when listings of our nation's best hospitals are done.

Brigham and Women's Hospital was recently ranked 36th in a survey of The Top 50 Hospitals in America. The survey was done by the folks at Consumer's Checkbook, and was published in Modern Maturity, a publication of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). The survey judged hospitals using various criteria such as: medical mortality rate; surgery mortality rate; physician ratings (where doctors rated hospitals); and accreditation score (given by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations).

Also, U.S. News and World Report, in its 2004 edition on "America's Best Hospitals", rated Brigham and Women's Hospital as the 12th best hospital in the nation. And, U.S. News and World Report also listed 11 Brigham and Women's specialties, as being among our nation's best. Those specialties (and their national rankings) are: Rheumatology- 8th best; Respiratory Disorders- 15th best; Orthopedics- 18th best; Neurosurgery and Neurosciences- 24th best; Heart and Heart Surgery- 6th best; Hormonal Diseases- 8th best; Digestive Disorders- 11th best; Gynecology- 3rd best; Kidney Diseases- 1st nationally; Geriatrics- 23rd best; Urology- 25th best.

To ensure that patient satisfaction stays high, Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Surveys are given to all Brigham and Women's patients.
