Baptist Hospital of Miami is a 551-bed facility located in the Kendall area of south Miami-Dade County. Baptist Hospital is a mere 20-25 minutes from Miami International Airport. That nearness to the airport is somewhat apropos, since Baptist Hospital treats patients from all over the world. Today, Baptist Hospital attracts patients not only from the United States, but also from the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond.

Approximately 30,000 people a year are hospitalized at Baptist Hospital of Miami, while around 90,000 people annually receive emergency treatment at the 24-hour Emergency Center, Chest Pain Center, and the Children's Emergency Center.

Baptist Hospital is the largest non-profit hospital in the region. The hospital offers a wide range of health-care services. Located on the campus are Baptist Children's Hospital, the Regional Cancer Program, the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute, and the Baptist-South Miami Diabetes Care Center.

In 2002, AARP's magazine, Modern Maturity, rated Baptist Hospital of Miami, one of the 50 BEST HOSPITALS IN AMERICA. Also, Baptist Hospital received the "Consumer Choice Award" (from the National Research Council), for being the MOST PREFERRED HOSPITAL in MIAMI. Baptist has received that honor every year from 1996-2002.

Also, Baptist has been named a MAGNET HOSPITAL for excellence in nursing. That award comes from the American Nursing Association, and Baptist received it, in both 1998 and 2002.
