University of Washington Medical Center was established in 1959 as an integral component of the University of Washington Health Sciences Center, it has had a distinguished labor in medical procedures and services that has made the UW Medical Center the world?s first multidisciplinary pain center, the Nation?s First Clinical Research Center and the Northwest?s first heart transplant and total knee transplant center, in addition it is a pioneer in medical high-tech specialized imaging, radiation treatments for Cancer and Doppler ultrasound for diagnosing heart and blood vessel disease.
UW Medical Center is formed by several clinics specialized in several medical specialties included, Allergy, Burn Care, Cancer, Children and Teens, Dental Care, Diabetes Care, Emergency, Family Medicines, Geriatrics, Gynecology, HIV/AIDS, Internal (adult) Medicine, Larynx and Voice Disorders, Men?s Health, Mental Health Services, Neurology, Nutrition, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Senior Care, Sleep Disorders, Surgery, Transplantation, Urology and Women?s Care.
In addition, to those medical services UW Medical Center has four primary care clinics: General Internal Medicine Center, Women?s Health Care Center, the Family Medical Center, which provides complete health care for women, men and children in preventive medicine and treatment for existing problems.
And finally, the Pediatric Care Center that provides comprehensive primary and specialty care for babies, children and young people to age 21 in well- child checkups and health screenings, Care for Foster Children Program, physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, immunizations, 24-hour phone line, advice for behavioral, and parenting concerns, health-care management of chronically ill or disabled children. This facility works to help children stay healthy and happy, the department coordinates care with specialists, home health care and schools.
