West Seattle Psychiatric Hospital is a private non-profit organization committed to helping its patients to live full, productive lives and to make a contribution to their communities, regardless of their emotional or mental disorders. One of the largest mental health centers in King County, it was created in 1968 as a result of the Federal Community Mental Health Centers Act of 1963, but it wasn't until 1974 that the center earned federal support through the National Institute of Mental Health.
