Harborview Medical Center history goes all the way back to the 19th century, starting in 1877 with the 6-bed King County welfare hospital in South Seattle, WA. Today, its main facility features 413 licensed beds, as well as an extended network of primary care clinics employing a physician staff of 425 people and a total of 4,000 employees fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
