The Deaconess Medical Center was the first hospital in Spokane, it was founded in 1896 and it started with 29 rooms and a small number of Deaconesses and nurses. Today, the medical center is a level II trauma center with 388-beds and it has been designated a Top 100 Hospital in the nation for Heart Care.
