The NorthBay Medical Center idea began to develop in 1956, when community leaders from Fairfield and Vacaville initiated a fund drive to build a hospital that would service families throughout upper Solano County. The 32-bed, non-profit Intercommunity Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1960, and in 1977, the community's constant growth led to the construction of a new health care facility. NorthBay Medical Center expanded to 108 beds two years later and added a Newborn Intensive Care Unit in 1985. In 1992, an addition to NorthBay Medical Center, that included a larger maternity department featuring labor/deliver/recovery rooms (LDRs), a larger Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a state-of-the-art critical care unit, opened its doors while bringing the hospital to its current 132-bed capacity.

NorthBay Healthcare is dedicated to helping upper Solano County be healthy as the community?s only civilian hospitals.
