In 1972 the Verdugo Hills Hospital opened its doors for answering to the medical needs of the communities of La Cañada Flintridge and the Crescenta Valley (CA). The hospital started in 1947 as Behrens Memorial Hospital, however when the Greene family donated the new land it was rebuilt as the current building and the improvements have continued through the years.
The 158-bed facility has the mission of providing personalized and cost-effective high quality medical services in the fields of acute care services (intensive care, orthopedics, medical surgeries, telemetry, and diagnostic testing); cardiac rehabilitation, laboratory services, wound care that is an outpatient program specialized in healing of chronic, non healing wounds, staffed by nurses, physicians and technicians specialized in wound management. In addition, the hospital has services in gastroenterology, geropsychiatric, which is a program that offers continuum care to the mental health needs of older adults and their families; Home Health Services and the Family Birth Center.
