Named after a local King City rancher renowned for his giving nature, George L Mee Memorial Hospital was created in 1962 after a $150,000 donation made by his son. Today, this 68-bed hospital is the heart of the 52,400 square
foot-foot facility that provides health care services for close to 50,000 residents in the Southern Monterrey County
(encompassing the towns of King City, Greenfield, Soledad, San Ardo, San Lucas, Lockwood and Jolon). George L Mee Memorial Hospital is a full-service, non-profit medical center with an annual budget of $30 million that offers
state-of-the-art medical equipment, personalized care and a dedicated, highly professional staff. The hospital is
managed by a 9-member Board of Trustees that works ad honorem.
As the main provider of health care services for the communities of Southern Monterrey County, George L Mee Memorial Hospital offers a wide spectrum of services, including: Emergency, Surgical (including general, ophthalmology, obstetric & gynecological, otorhinolaryngology, podiatry, orthopedic and urology), Family Birthplace (fully equipped with private birthing suites), Imaging (including breast cancer services) and Rehabilitation services (including physical, occupational and speech therapy).
With a staff of over 500 people, George L Mee Memorial Hospital is among the largest employers in the area, not taking in consideration the workers of the rural clinics in Greenfield, King City and Fort Hunter, which provide health care examinations, primary care, x-ray and laboratory services and outpatient surgery.
