The Memorial Southwest Hospital (MHSH) is another medical center that is operated by the Memorial Hermann Health System which started when the Rev. Dennis Pevoto purchased an 18 bed sanitarium in Houston. His objective was to construct a hospital open to all no matter the religion, race and other aspects of the patients. Years later, Pevoto joined its efforts with Mr. Hermann and both founded the system. They both had the belief that living, not dying must be the main objective of a hospital.
The MHSH is the biggest and most sophisticated suburban medical center that has been providing its services for almost 30 years. This hospital also has a Heart & Vascular Institute; other services provided by this facility are: cancer services, orthopedic, neuroscience, neonatology and outpatient imaging and many others. It also offers several specialties such like radiation therapy, general surgery and an outpatient physical therapy department. There are also services for women like ante partum testing, neonatal intensive care unit, labor and delivery services as well as a breast cancer center. A big number of volunteers work in the hospital and provide excellent services to their patients and their families.
The MHSH also offers 24 emergency services as a Level III Trauma Center and is associated through Life Flight air ambulance service to the Level I Trauma Center in the Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
