Driscoll Children's Hospital opened its doors in 1953. This 200 bed tertiary care referral center offers the most comprehensive and complex medical and surgical care for children, whether their families can pay or not. The hospital serves 33 counties and 31,000 square miles of South Texas; it has 250 Doctors on the Medical Staff in 19 medical and 10 surgical specialties and over 4,000 employees and 300 volunteers.
