Via Christi Health System is a Catholic, not-for-profit range of medical centers, health plans, senior communities and other institutes in Kansas (it is the largest health care system in Kansas) and Oklahoma. The mission of Via Christi Health System is reflected in its name, which is in Latin, and means ?The Way of Christ?. Via Christi strives to provide superior healthcare for all people, and especially to the poor and underserved.
Via Christi Health System was founded in October 1, 1995 by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita. Today, Via Christi?s four divisions: Senior Care, Retail and Outpatient, Insurance, and Acute Care serve many communities throughout Kansas. The organization is based in five core values which guide every step on the road: Community, Competence, Service, Human Dignity, and Vision.
Via Christi Health System promotes a sense of family and unity among the employees of the centers and with the patients. Physicians and other staff are encouraged to work as a team, with professionalism, respect, and cooperation, and to use their gifts, skill and wisdom when serving others. The philosophy that everyone deserves recognition, self-worth, respect, and the opportunity to grow leads the vision of collaboratively planning for the future, taking into account the knowledge, talents, and imagination of each individual.
