Opportunity for Nurses to Earn 25 CE Credits & Cash

Nursing Jobs By State

Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 19, 2006 -- Volunteer nurses can earn 25 CE credits and cash for testing Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care, an interactive online continuing education course. This interactive and innovative course was approved for 25 hours of CE credit by the Maryland Nurses Association. This accreditation provides reciprocity for nurses throughout the U.S. The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. has also approved the course for 25 CECH (Continuing Education Contact Hours). Nurses and health educators throughout the United States will receive approved credit hours to meet their state nursing license requirements.

The course was developed By HealthMark MultimediaT under a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The research is required to fulfill the terms of the funding.

To sign up to become a tester, email HealthMark Multimedia's Evaluation Manager: e-mail protected from spam bots.

Each tester will be sent an email with a pretest. Once the pretest is back, HealthMark will email free access to the test site.

Testers have two months to take the modules, receiving CE and/or CECH credit as each one is completed and evaluated.

After the 11th module, HealthMark will mail the first gratuity.

About one month after completion, HealthMark will email the post-test - and once that is completed and returned, the final payment will be sent.

About Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care

This interactive Web-based course uses practice-based scenarios to introduce and then assess individual topics. The multiple-choice question format tailors feedback to the users' responses. Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care enables nurses and health educators to hear and visualize real-world problems, to read text supported by reference links and key points, and then to test themselves on each interactive scenario. Research shows that practice-based learning engages professional users at their level of expertise and at their own comfortable pace.

The course, Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care, is divided into 11 modules. Health care professionals can opt for the approach or information they need: individual and institutional practice, professional and lay cancer caregivers, multicultural and multiethnic approaches to nontraditional medicine, and full discussions of the efficacy and safety of the major complementary therapies. Downloadable reference lists, practice guidelines, and assessment worksheets support and reinforce learning and applying skills and knowledge to health care practice. This multimedia approach to professional education helps the nurses see and hear it, learn it, and put it into practice.

Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care is designed to provide health care providers with medically sound, evidence-based information on the use of complementary therapies by patients with cancer. Complementary Therapies & Cancer Care was developed under Phase I and Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
