Job Title: Director, Behavioral Health

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in use of PC and software packages that include word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Analytical and business skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of information systems.
  • Familiar with and utilizes continuous quality improvement methodologies.
  • Able to take corrective action in solving problems; to identify the dimensions of the problem; and to establish the potential causes and specify and follow through on alternative solutions to the problem.
  • Knowledgeable in the regulatory aspects of inpatient and outpatient psychiatry care.
  • Knowledgeable regarding the market for behavioral health services including experience in managed care contracting for behavioral health services.
  • Knowledgeable in the medical-legal aspects of psychiatric treatment including but not limited to confidentiality of the patient and the family, as well as the medical record.
  • Knowledgeable in the operation of training programs in psychology, social work, nursing, other behavioral health fields.
  • Knowledgeable in community mental health operations, State grants and Public Sector psychiatry.
  • Knowledgable about various hospital services and operations
  • Masters degree in Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing or other behavioral health field; Graduate degree in Healthcare Administration
  • 10 years of progressive management experience in behavioral health.

Job Description:  The Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services will provide overall leadership for outpatient behavioral health services at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The individual in this position will plan, organize, implement and monitor all programs within behavioral health operations. This will include responsibility for all fiscal, clinical information system, human resource, community and agency relations and training program activities. The Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services will ensure compliance with all Federal, state, county and other relevant governmental and accrediting agency guidelines. Maintaining optimal relationships with external funding bodies, managed care companies, consumers, physicians and departments within Advocate Health Care is a critical part of this position. Ensuring that behavioral health services are consistent with Advocate mission, vision, strategies and policies are a critical success factor for the Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Service

Accountabilities:

  1. Plans, organizes implements and monitors the activities of outpatient behavioral health services for IMMC in a manner consistent with accrediting and regulatory guidelines.
  2. Allocates resources consistent with approved operating and capital budgets and Advocate's mission, strategies, contractual requirements and standards of care.
  3. Establishes and maintains a comprehensive clinical care management system that reflects the quality and patient satisfaction goals of behavioral health services.
  4. Monitors and evaluates the quality of education within professional training programs.
  5. Acts as principal spokesperson of behavioral health services to internal and external customers including city, metropolitan and statewide advisory councils to keep informed of industry trends and take advantage of business opportunities.
