Medical Social Worker

At Lutheran General Hospital, our care is our focus, and it shows. Rated among the Top 50 Hospitals in the U.S. for medical excellence, it's no wonder in August of 2005 we were the first hospital in the North and Northwest suburbs to be awarded with Magnet status. Our 617-bed teaching, research, and tertiary care hospital with a Level I trauma center encompasses the very best in health care, now and in the future.

What does that mean for you?
It means world-class benefits and programs. State-of-the-art facilities and resources. Unlimited career opportunities. And most importantly, amazing people. When it comes to your career, you want to be surrounded by the best. We wouldn't have it any other way.
We're the most nationally recognized hospital in Illinois.

That simple fact speaks volumes about our people, our resources, and our commitment to excellence. In addition to being one of the largest hospitals in the Chicago area, we're also home to Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital, one of the most comprehensive providers of pediatric care in the state.

Award-Winning Nurses at Lutheran General Hospital
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital was the first hospital in the north and northwest suburbs to be awarded the American Nurse Credentialing Center's (ANCC) prestigious Magnet designation. This designation is the highest honor and level of recognition ANCC awards to nursing services in national and international health care. Magnet designation is the gold standard by which nursing and patient care is measured.

The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes health care organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing and meet 97 individual criteria points. To achieve this prestigious status, the Magnet Recognition Program requires a multi-year process of rigorous evaluation that includes extensive interviews with registered nurses and a review of nursing services, clinical outcomes, and patient care.

Being one of the nation's best hospitals is just the beginning.
We're also one of the top 15 major teaching institutions in the country. We're ranked among the top 10 hospitals in the nation for quality of care, according to a two-year study conducted by a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit consumer education organization. And we're also rated among the top 50 hospitals in the U.S. for medical excellence and advanced treatment capabilities in cardiovascular services, cancer care, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, geriatrics, ear/nose/throat disorders, digestive disorders, rheumatology, and respiratory disorders.

Finally, we're recognized as being one of the nation's top cardiovascular hospitals, according to the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success study, and were the only Illinois hospital recognized for heart and heart surgery services in the 13th annual U.S. News and World Report's America's Best Hospitals rating.

We're among the best, because of people like you.
Few health care organizations can offer you a better opportunity to do something important with your talent. At Lutheran General, you'll touch the lives of your patients. You'll lead your profession. And more than anything else, you'll be as recognized and respected as we are.
