Wadley Hospital Texarkana, Texas

View Texas Nurse Employment Listings

From humble beginnings over 100 years ago, Texarkana's Wadley Hospital has become the premier healthcare provider for the people in the Ark-La-Tex region. Back in 1900, four Texarkana doctors started what was the town's first hospital. The 15-bed Pine Street Sanitarium was incorporated and renamed Texarkana Sanitarium and Training School for Nurses in 1905. By 1920, the facility was called the Texarkana Hospital and had 50 beds, 50 physicians, and 3,000 patients.

Texarkana Hospital lasted until 1959, when a brand new facility named Wadley Hospital opened. This new facility had 200 beds and was named after local benefactor J.K. Wadley. Still at the same location, almost 45 years later, Wadley Hospital has since been remodeled, and has a brand new modern look. Currently, the hospital has over 350 beds, and is also home to a Level II Trauma center (one of only nine in the state of Texas; Arkansas has none).

Wadley Hospital is the winner of numerous National Awards. In 2001, Health Grades rated Wadley Hospital one of the top 10% hospitals in the country for heart surgery. As the top-rated hospital in the Texarkana area, Wadley has achieved the most successful patient outcomes for coronary bypass surgery.

Also, Wadley Hospital was named one of the nation's Top 100 Hospitals, for achieving excellence in overall performance, quality care, and efficiency of operations.

And, finally, in 2001, Wadley Hospital won The Pat Summerall Champion of Industry Award.

At press time, there were numerous RN and other nursing positions available at Wadley Hospital. Wadley Hospital- still providing the best in health care services- after all these years.
