University of Colorado Hospital, in Denver, is the region's leading tertiary care facility and referral center. Founded in 1921, University of Colorado Hospital is a 350-bed facility located at 4200 E. 9th Avenue in Denver, Colorado. More than 700 physicians are on the staff, and the hospital has over 3,000 employees overall.

University of Colorado Hospital offers 23 specialty care services. Also, the hospital is home to one of the nation's best cancer centers. Located in the cancer center are: The Breast Cancer Center; The Gastrointestinal Cancer Center; The Lung Cancer Center; The Pediatric Cancer Center; and The Prostate Cancer Center. The University of Colorado Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute- designated comprehensive cancer center in the entire Rocky Mountain region.

University of Colorado Hospital is home to a Level II Trauma Center. And, the Rocky Mountain region's only adult burn center is located at University of Colorado Hospital.

Recent rankings from U.S. News and World Report show that University of Colorado Hospital is nationally recognized as one of our country's top hospitals. In that magazine's July 2004 issue, which rated "America's Best Hospitals", University of Colorado was ranked in the top 50 in the nation, in eleven different medical categories. Those 11 specialties and their national rankings were: cancer care- 24th best in the nation; heart and heart surgery- 38th best; hormonal disorders- 18th best; digestive disorders- 43rd best; geriatrics- 17th best; gynecology- 15th best; kidney disease- 11th best; neurology and neurosurgery- 34th best; orthopedics- 31st best; ear, nose, and throat- 36th best; respiratory disorders- 9th best.
