United Hospital of St. Paul, Minnesota has beginnings which go all the way back to 1855. Originally known as Christ Church Hospital, until 1877, when the name was changed to St. Luke's Hospital. Fast forward to 1972, when St. Luke's Hospital merged with Charles T. Miller Hospital to form what is now known as United Hospital. Today, United Hospital is a premier healthcare provider, and is the largest non-profit hospital in St. Paul.

Among the myriad of services offered by United Hospital are: Behavioral Health, Birth Center, The Breast Center, Day Surgery Center, Emergency/Trauma Services, Integrated Therapies, Fitness Center, John Nasseff Heart Hospital, Menopause Center, Neurology and Epilepsy, Oncology, Orthopedic Services, Pain Center, Rehabilitation Services, and Surgery.

United Hospital was recently recognized as one of our nation's top 50 hospitals. In the AARP magazine Modern Maturity, they recently listed those top 50 hospitals. The rankings were compiled by Consumer's Checkbook, which is a consumer education group. Consumer's Checkbook used these criteria in making their rankings: medical mortality rate, surgical mortality rate, accreditation scores (scores given by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), and physician ratings (how doctors rate a particular hospital). United Hospital was listed as the 48th best hospital in the nation.

Whenever a hospital is nationally recognized like that, the credit must go to the dedicated staff of doctors, nurses, and support employees who help to make the hospital what it is.
