Parkland Memorial Hospital located in Dallas, Texas is Dallas County's only public hospital. Located at 5201 Harry Hines Blvd., Parkland Memorial Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for students of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

U.S. News and World Report, in their 2004 edition on "America's Best Hospitals", Parkland Memorial Hospital had one of the nation's best overall ratings. Also the specialties at Parkland Memorial Hospital were rated among the best in the nation, in 7 different categories. Those categories (and the ratings) were: Rheumatology- 23rd nationally; Orthopedics- 20th nationally; Kidney Disease- 17th nationally; Hormonal Disorders- 14th nationally; Heart and Heart Surgery- 18th nationally; Gynecology- 11th nationally; Ear, Nose, and Throat- 47th nationally.

The Regional Burn Center at Parkland is internationally recognized as one of the world's best. Established in 1962, the Burn Center has pioneered many skin grafting techniques, which are used today. Parkland Memorial Hospital has over 990 beds, and in a given year, treats hundreds of thousands of patients. In 2001, Parkland Memorial Hospital admitted over 40,000 patients. Also, in 2001, Parkland treated over 807,000 people on an outpatient basis, and administered emergency room care to over 119,000 people. That very same year, Parkland Memorial Hospital delivered over 15,000 babies.

So, as you can probably see, Parkland Memorial Hospital is a pretty busy place. And, the hospital is constantly seeking qualified applicants for open positions. At press time, Parkland Memorial Hospital had numerous openings on its nursing staff.
