Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana, is a 343-bed hospital that provides acute care to the people of Lafayette and the surrounding Acadiana region. As a matter of fact, this hospital is the largest medical center in the nine parish area of Acadiana. The roots for Lafayette General Hospital can be traced all the way back to 1903, as LGH evolved from what was then known as Lafayette Sanitarium.

In the U.S. News and World Report rankings of our nation's best Hospital Urology Departments, Lafayette General Hospital was ranked 44th best!

Lafayette General Hospital was the recent recipient of the coveted Magnet Award. The Magnet Award is awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association), and is given to hospitals that exhibit excellence in nursing. Only 100 hospitals across the country have been given Magnet Hospital status. And, Lafayette General Hospital is one of only two Louisiana hospitals to have received Magnet status.
