Hospital of Saint Rapheal, in New Haven, Connecticut, is a 511-bed teaching hospital, affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine. Founded in 1907 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, the hospital is named after Saint Rapheal, an archangel recognized by many different faiths. (In the Hebrew language, Rapheal means "God has healed")

Hospital of St. Rapheal offers specialty treatment in these areas: stroke, cancer, joint replacement, and heart care. AARP, in its magazine, Modern Maturity, recently listed THE TOP 50 HOSPITALS IN AMERICA. (The rankings were compiled by Consumer's Checkbook, a consumer watchdog group). In the rankings, Hospital of Saint Rapheal was ranked the 33rd best hospital in the nation! Those rankings were based on these criteria: accreditation score (score given by Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), medical mortality rates, surgical mortality rates, and physician ratings (ratings given by doctors to a particular hospital).
