And, in 1999, Hackensack University, once again, received "Magnet" Hospital status.

Recently, Consumer's Checkbook did a ranking of the TOP 50 HOSPITALS IN AMERICA. The results were published in Modern Maturity, a magazine published by the AARP. Hackensack University Medical Center was rated the 17th best hospital in the country. Those rankings are based on these criteria: medical mortality rates, surgical mortality rates, accreditation scores (given by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations), and physician ratings (ratings of doctors on a particular hospital).

In 2004, Hackensack University Medical Center was named by U.S. News and World Report, as one of "America's Best Hospitals", for hear surgery and heart care. The 2004 ranking was 37th best in the nation. Also, in 2004, U.S. News and World Report recognized Hackensack University Medical Center for having the 49th best Geriatrics treatment in the country.

Even though it is already an award-winning hospital, plans are already underway to make Hackensack University Medical Center...even better.
