Students in the Academy for Health Care Sciences at the Morris County
School of Technology in Denville recently attended the Northern Regional
Conference and won 16 medals.
The attending students are members of Health Occupations Students of
America (HOSA), an organization which promotes the education and
training of U.S. youths who plan to pursue a career in health care.
The conference hosted competitions in many areas pertaining to studies
that prepare students for health careers.
First place medals were awarded to Faizan Munshi for concepts of health
care, Nick Patel for nutrition, and Danica Ramos for medical spelling.
Second place awards were given to Nicole Hurtado for medical spelling,
Stephen Bloshuk for extemporaneous writing, Amanda Cavanagh for
extemporaneous health poster, Anoop Alla for medical math, and Nelish
Ardeshna for concepts of health care.
Sahithi Ayyalasomayajula received third place in medical spelling and
Richa Patel won fourth for medical math. Corinne Deboer and Amy
O'Sullivan both earned fifth place in the category of CPR/first aid.
Seventh place medals went to Cat Rogers for extemporaneous writing, Addy
Adesina for prepared speaking and Shika Patel in the category of medical
terminology. Akosua Oppong placed eighth in medical spelling.
The goal of the Academy for Health Care Sciences at the Morris County
School of Technology is to provide a variety of educational experiences
for high school students interested in a career within the health care
industry.
The Morris County Vocational School District offers programs for Morris
County high school students, including career academies, share time
programs and share time programs for special needs students and adult
education programs.
