Roswell Park Cancer Institute, founded in 1989, was the first cancer center in the United States. When Dr. Roswell Park established the center, he wanted to create a leading center that could serve the community through offering the best service. His dream finally became true when Roswell Park Cancer Institute was designated "comprehensive cancer center" and, therefore, member of the recognized National Comprehensive Cancer Network. They work in accordance to the national standards for education and cancer care.
Twenty-three acres in Buffalo group the 15 buildings that are part of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute's facilities. In 1998, they completed another hospital building which would house treatment and comprehensive diagnostic center.
