Jamaica Hospital Medical Center was opened in 1891 in a borrowed four-bedroom residence in Jamaica, Queens. Jamaica Hospital Medical Center's development has been extraordinary. These days, Jamaica Hospital is a 387-bed, completely certified regional teaching center with a large association of regional-based ambulatory care facilities. Jamaica Hospital Medical Center provides a complete assortment of acute mental, rehabilitation and inpatient health services, the biggest voluntary medical center ambulance fleet providing service to the City's emergency system, and a Level I trauma facility.
The health center offers general psychiatric, pediatric, and medical emergency services, ambulatory care off and on facility, ambulatory surgical treatment, a broad range of treatment and diagnostic services, and residence medical services. The associated 204-bed Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home offers long-standing care on site. MediSys Health Network is the non-profit parent institute of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in addition to several other non-profit medical care supplier associations, featuring Medical Center, Trump Pavilion, Brookdale University Hospital and Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Brookdale's nursing service.
