Established in 1957 as a proprietary hospital, Whittier Hospital Medical Center has strived to bring superior healthcare services to the community of east Whittier, CA. The hospital became a not-for-profit organization in 1962, and while its management has changed over the years, its commitment to the community has remained. In 2005, Whittier Hospital Medical Center was purchased by AHMC Healthcare. Today, it is a 181-bed acute care hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) with a staff of about 500 physicians spanning 40 specialties.
