Metropolitan Hospital Center is a full-service, acute care hospital that was founded in 1875. This hospital emphasizes primary care medicine and uses the latest advances in medical science. The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) renewed the accreditation of Metropolitan Hospital Center in October, 1998. Two off-site clinics were recently opened by this hospital in order to enhance its role as a provider of medical care to the diverse zones of northern Manhattan. Metropolitan Hospital Center provides comprehensive care and education for the New Yorkers who suffer from diabetes or asthma.
