St. Joseph's Medical Center Stockton

Nursing Jobs By State

St. Joseph's Medical Center is a not-for-profit, regional hospital serving the community of Stockton, California and the neighboring areas. St. Joseph's Medical Center is certified for 294 beds. The hospital counts with a physician staff of over 400 and more than 2,400 employees. It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) and participates with the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Specializing in cardiovascular care, comprehensive cancer services, and women and children's services including neonatal intensive care, St. Joseph's is the largest hospital as well as the largest private employer in Stockton. Nationally recognized as a quality leader, St. Joseph's is consistently chosen as the "most preferred hospital" by local consumers.

After hearing the plans of Father William B. O'Connor of building a home for men to spend their last years in comfort and being cared for, Dr. Ellis Harbert and a group of local physicians suggested the construction of a hospital as well. They pointed out the great need of the community for a suitable place to which they could bring their medical and surgical patients for specialized care and the doctors of Stockton pledged their support. Father O'Connor purchased some land north of the city with donated money. St. Joseph's opened in December, 1899, under the supervision of the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael. As the community of Stockton and the surrounding towns increased, St. Joseph's developed and expanded to better provide answers to the healthcare needs of the population.

St. Joseph's Medical Center counts with the following Centers of Excellence: Heart Center, Women & Children's Center, Regional Cancer Center, Outpatient Surgery Center and Emergency Department. The hospital also provides a wide array of healthcare services among which are: All Medical Services, Behavioral Health, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Community Home Care, Critical Care Services, Employee Assistance Program, HealthCare Clinical Laboratories, Home Care, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Immediate Care, Medical Library, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Neurosurgery, Occupational Health, Occupational Therapy, Outpatient Nutrition Services, Pediatrics, Physical Therapy, Pulmonary & Cardiac Rehabilitation, Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging and Respiratory Services.
