The St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) was founded in 1945 and nowadays is also the only complete not-for-profit health care provider institution that serves the residents the Southeast region of Los Angeles. They offer a comprehensive variety of diagnostic and treatment services for over 700,000 adults and over 300,000 children who are the most frequent patients of this medical center. This medical institution is dedicated to meeting the health requirements of the residents of the region. They strive to give their patient the best body, mind and spiritual cares always respecting their beliefs and the dignity of the people.

The SFMC operates as a 384 bed acute care hospital, with six community based health clinics and the biggest and more active private emergency trauma center in Los Angeles County. Past year approximately 6,000 babies were born in this medical center at the Family Life Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Center. Their Health Community Initiatives provide health care services to the children and families in their own neighborhoods and their educational institutions.

Additionally to those facilities, the SFMC also operates the Children?s Counseling Center for abandoned and maltreated children as well as the St. Francis Career College which provides a big variety of community and educational service plans. The main mission of the SFMC is meeting the health requirements of the residents of the Southeast region of Los Angeles.
