King County Public Hospital District #2 was created in 1967, but it took five more years before Evergreen General Hospital opened its doors on March 9, 1972. After more than 30 years of service, the hospital has grown significantly to answer the needs of the communities of Bothell, Duvall, Kenmore, Kirkland, Redmond and Woodinville that have supported its operation throughout the years with periodical emissions of tax-supported bonds. Today, Evergreen Healthcare comprises Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, Evergreen Surgical Group, Evergreen Medical Group, Evergreen Home Health Services, Evergreen Hospice, Evergreen Healthcare foundation and Evergreen Healthcare Auxiliary, which extend their services through a network of clinics. The primary facility is Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, a 244-licensed bed hospital. Evergreen Healthcare is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
