Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center

Nursing Jobs By State

For more than a century, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center has been most successful in providing quality healthcare to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Bronx-Lebanon is the largest voluntary, not-for-profit health care system helping South and Central Bronx, with 858 beds at two major hospital divisions (the Concourse and Fulton); a specialized nursing facility for AIDS and geriatrics patients; and a widespread "BronxCare" network of 70 medical practices that has reinforced Bronx-Lebanon's essential role as "Doctor to the Community". In 2004, the hospital provided more than 879,000 outpatient visits, the fourth largest for a hospital in New York City. Bronx-Lebanon is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is ranked in the top one percent of hospitals in the nation.

The history of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center began when, in 1962, the Lebanon Hospital (incorporated in 1890) fused with the Bronx Hospital (incorporated in 1909). Just nine years later, by becoming an affiliated primary teaching hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the hospital took an important step towards training the doctors of tomorrow. In 1987, the completion of New Directions, a modernization project consisting in the replacement of an aging physical plant with up to date facilities and the creation of a specialized and innovative nursing facility, marked a new era for Bronx-Lebanon. Following those updates, the leadership of the hospital has promoted some other initiatives including education, housing, nutrition, and medical outreach programs, which further integrated Bronx-Lebanon into the fabric of the community. Bronx-Lebanon is also among the largest employers (with 4,000 employees) in South and Central Bronx.

Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center provides a wide array of healthcare services like: anesthesiology, asthma, cardiology, dentistry, emergency services, internal medicine, neonatology, orthopedics and surgery, amongst others. Involving directly in treatment, support, and educational functions at the inpatient and outpatient levels, Bronx-Lebanon's nurses are continuing to achieve outstanding results for their patients and the community. Numerous outreach programs have also been initiated to educate the community about significant health issues, including HealthBeat; Bronx-Lebanon's highly praised weekly live television show.
