Erie County Medical Center

Nursing Jobs By State

Erie County Medical Center?s beginnings can be traced back to the early 20th century, when the Municipal Hospital was created, in 1905. As the population of the area grew, so did the demand for more and better medical attention. Its services were not limited to the treatment of illnesses, but also reached the education and formation of new physicians, nurses and other health workers. A new building was built during the 1970?s, and it was renamed Erie County Medical Center, that now extends beyond its 65-acre location constituting the Erie County Medical Healthcare Network that encompasses several primary health care centers in the Western New York area and its main facility, located in the city of Buffalo, NY. Erie County Medical Center features 550 inpatient beds and 156 skilled nursing home beds.

The services provided at the hospital include Ambulatory Care, Behavioral health, Cardiac Care, Nephrology (for kidney treatment), Orthopedics, Regional Trauma, Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing Care, Surgery and Specialty Care services.

In addition to this, Erie County Medical Center is considered to be the #1 hospital for kidney transplants in West New York, since it has the best survival rate, a distinction that also extends to open-heart surgery. The hospital also has the only Level One Trauma Center in New York. But don?t take my word for it, or the hospital?s, for that matter: you can access the testimony of its patients by following the links available at the website, who will tell you in their own words, what their experiences were like at Erie County Medical Center. Unfortunately, at this point there is little information available concerning the possibilities of employment at Erie County Medical Center. Indeed, the website states that this section is being updated, so if you are interested, you will have to do things the old fashioned way: calling on the phone.
