The Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital was created as a labor of love: in 1902, a young 10 year old girl of Hollister, CA, passed away, unable to receive proper care for her appendicitis, due to the absence of a hospital in the community. Five years later, with the opening of this hospital, her family and the whole community of Hollister were finally able to honor her memory while at the same time providing the community with a much needed hospital. Directed to the senior population, Solutions is a psychiatric program meant to address the issue of mental health in this sensitive population, through the help not only of a psychiatrist, but also a social worker, a psychologist and an occupational therapist.
