Golden Plains Community Hospital

Nursing Jobs By State

Golden Plains Community Hospital understands that healthcare is evolving and that advances in medicine and strides in technology provide local communities with an access to better healthcare. Golden Plains Community Hospital desires to provide the communities it serves with the tools needed to educate and increase health awareness. The mission of Golden Plains Community Hospital is to serve, educate and heal those who enter their doors. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Some of the services that are offered at Golden Plains Community Hospital are: Borger Emergency Medical Services, Clinical Case Management, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Department and Food and Nutrition services among others.

The Hutchinson County Hospital started as a 20-bed facility counting with an operating/delivery room and a nurse's residence. It was governed by a board of managers appointed by the county commissioners. It was located at 6th and Weatherly from about 1926 to 1937. Soon, the demand for a bigger facility was made by the citizens led Borger Chamber of Commerce to organize the drive to find a location. In 1937, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Weatherly donated the land where the building was erected with the name of North Plains Hospital. The 25-bed hospital was financed by a construction bond and the equipment and furniture was purchased by businesses, merchants and clubs. Four years later, a nurses' residence was built.

In 1943, 2 wings were added followed by constant additions like the expansion of the Emergency Room in 1984. That same year, the hospital was sold to AMI and was renamed to Golden Plains Community Hospital. In 1996, HCHD took over the operation for the Women's and Children's Clinic which was previously operated by the Texas Department of Health. The Fritch Medical Clinic was built in Fritch Texas where it serves the primary health care needs of that community since 1997. In 2000, the old nurses' residence was replaced by Golden Plains Medical Plaza.
