Darnall Army Community Hospital: Military Healthcare Services

Nursing Jobs By State

The Darnall Army Community Hospital (DACH) started its operations in 1965 to replace the World War II Fort Hood Hospital which was a big group of buildings linked by walkways. The DACH was the first of three enduring Army medical centers. For those times the total cost for the construction of this hospital was of $6 million and other $6 million for the equipment. The main goal for the construction of this medical center was to be used to support a one division installation of 17,000 troops. After some years the building was expanded in 1979 to meet the massive growing medical needs.

The hospital duplicated its size, the outpatient clinic space tripled, the number of delivery room increased from two to four, the number of operating rooms from five to six and a same day surgery center with two smaller operating rooms was added. Additionally the whole interior of the original structure was improved. Since 2003 more than 2,200 sick and injured soldiers evacuated from Afghanistan and Iraq have assisted to the DACH.

Nowadays, the hospital keeps providing its health care services to all those who require them. The hospital scores an average of seven births each day, approximately 3,867 outpatient visits, 31 admissions, 5,000 prescriptions, 26 surgeries, 170 emergency room visits among many other services. The DACH is located in the city of Fort Hood, TX; if you or someone that you know needs medical services; attend the Darnall Army Community Hospital.
