Frio Regional Hospital

Nursing Jobs By State

Frio Regional Hospital, now with a new building, is a 42,000 square foot freestanding facility, including 22 acute care beds with outpatient, surgical, obstetric and emergency services. The hospital's new design has proven very successful in allowing a better delivery of the attention its patients need. Flexibility is a key component in the design.  One centralized nurse station (which is located near the ER) services all acute care beds and Labor/Delivery Rooms with visual observation of the Nursery. The master site plan incorporates future growth to support the continuum of care through medical office buildings and long term care facilities. Today, two medical office buildings sit near the new hospital, and roads around the site are in place for future expansion.

Frio Regional Hospital, a replacement hospital, was opened September 6, 2000. The 42,000 square foot building replaced an obsolete 15,000 square foot building. Frio Regional Hospital has 22 private patient rooms and basic primary care services, including emergency room, obstetrical, general surgery, clinical laboratory and radiology.

Frio Regional Hospital offers a wide array of health care services, among those are: The Emergency Room, in which physicians are on duty 24 hours a day and are provided by an independent contractor, is certified as a Level IV trauma center (serious trauma is stabilized and transferred, usually by helicopter, to one of three Level I trauma centers in San Antonio). In order to provide physical, occupational and speech therapy, the hospital owns and operates by contract an outpatient rehabilitation center. The hospital owns and operates a Department of Home Health, which provides nursing services and physical therapy services in the home to those that qualify under Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
