The Hendrick Health System was created to fulfill the needs of the community of Abilene in 1924 . This first building had 72 rooms and admitted more than 800 patients in the first year. Through the years the hospital was improving its services and infrastructure to answer to the increasing needs of the community. By the 40s and 50s the hospital had doubled the capacity of its maternity room such as, its team of nurses and medical equipment. The modernism began in the following decades when the hospital expanded services in X-Ray, 24 hours services, mother care, children services and nursery.
Now the Hendrick Health System counts with a Rehabilitation Center, the Vera?s West Women?s Center, the Hendrick Cancer Center, the Children?s Miracle Network, the Hendrick Hospice Care, the Hendrick Heartsaver Network, such as the Pediatric ICU, the Hendrick for Extended Care and Hendrick Day Surgery, all of which work with the commitment of providing the best healthcare in Texas Midwest.
The Hendrick Health System was born with the mission of promoting the mental, spiritual and physical health of its patients. The staff from the Hendrick System works with stewardship, respect, integrity and innovation. Also they offer continuous improvements in services, information and courtesy, with the objective of satisfying the needs of their patients and the mission and vision in which the hospital was founded by Reverend M.A Jenkins.
This excellence has let the Hendrick Care System be recognized by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a hospital with accreditation with commendation. Also it is one of the Top 12 Press, Ganey Hospital in the nation concerning overall patient satisfaction. That is why the Hendrick System continues growing to improve their services and guarantee the excellence in healthcare in the Texas Midwest.
