Children's Medical Center Dallas is a private, not-for-profit institution founded in 1913. It is the Southwest?s leading healthcare facility that deals exclusively with a variety of diseases and disorders among children from birth to age eighteen. The center is licensed for 406 beds, including a 52-bed pediatric intensive care (being only pediatric hospital in Texas and one of only 14 in the nation to be designated a Level 1 Trauma Center). The hospital also has more than 50 outpatient clinics and a state-of-the-art emergency center designed specifically for children. Children's features one of the nation's largest pediatric intensive care units with 84 licensed beds. Furthermore, it is also is the only teaching facility in the region with its academic affiliation to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

As the primary teaching hospital for UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children's Medical Center Dallas supplies the hospital and outpatient offices for training future pediatricians and pediatric specialists. Children?s also trains other healthcare professionals including nurses, respiratory care practitioners, pharmacists, child life specialists and hospital chaplains.
