Since 1978, Mesquite Community Hospital has helped families grow; in 1987, The Maternity Center was opened as the first maternity care unit in Mesquite; each year, the labor and delivery nursing staff of this unit assists with over 2,000 births. The size of the Day Surgery area and Emergency Department of the Mesquite Community Hospital was doubled in 1996 and enlarged even more in 2005 in order to meet the needs of the people of Mesquite and nearby communities. For more than 25 years, Mesquite Community Hospital has been playing a key part in the development of health care services in the east Dallas County and the Mesquite, Garland area. This full-service hospital is located just outside of Dallas; it has 172 licensed beds in all-private rooms.
Mesquite Community Hospital enjoys membership in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Hospital Council, the Texas Hospital Association and the Federation of American Hospitals, is certified for participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. The 12-acre property where the hospital is located also contains five professional office buildings that are occupied by around 25 physicians and other healthcare professionals. The Specialty services of Mesquite Community Hospital are: Heritage Outpatient Program, The Maternity Center, MISRehab, Weight Loss Surgeries, Physical Rehabilitation and Total Joint Center. Some additional services are: Ambulatory Day Surgery, Clinical Laboratory, Emergency Services, Pharmacy and Social Services.
