Hearth First Inc. is one of the most important and significant medical services providers in Florida. This company is made up of three non-profit hospitals, which are the Palm Bay Community Hospital, located in Palm Bay; Holmes Regional Medical
Center, in Melbourne; and Cape Canaveral Hospital, situated in Cocoa Beach. However, what does non-profit really mean? In a non-profit company, all income that is above expenses is exclusively utilized for improving the health of the community. In this way, Health First does everything possible in order to provide people with the highest-quality services, without stopping to be at the cutting-edge of technology.
Health First Inc.'s early beginnings took place in Brevard, around the year 1937. Their first hospital had only 27 beds and was located in Melbourne. These days, that hospital is called Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC) and is the biggest one in Health First Inc. family since it relies on 514 beds. The other hospital, Canaveral Hospital, was founded in 1962. At the beginning it only had 44 beds, whereas today, it has 150. Among the first new services that were later added to Health First, Health First Physicians (1995), Health First Health Plans (1996), Health First Heart Institute and Holmes Regional Trauma Center are outstanding.
In addition, Health First Inc. has received accreditation and obtained several certificates from many worldwide important organizations. Some of them are the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL), Academy of Health Care Management (AHM) curriculum certificate and the American College of Radiology Ultrasound Accreditation (2001). However, the story for Health First does not end there. They have been given several awards, recognitions and other accomplishments, encompassing that the PBCH Emergency Department patient satisfaction ranked in top three percent nationwide, the CCH Surgical Service associates were the 5th place winners in the Best Nursing Team contest and the HRMC was designated one of the Top 100 Hospitals for cardiovascular services by Solucient, Inc., 2000. Thus, Health First Inc. is synonym of quality and experience.
