The Charleston Area Medical Center Health System (CAMC) is a non profit organization which counts with 893 beds and more than 5,000 employees. The organization is committed to provide excellent health systems to the people of southern West Virginia. This health system is also the first West Virginia teaching center and is the host of more than 500 students in different courses leading to certifications or degrees in many different health professions.
The CAMC is also the home of one of the top ten heart programs in the country, one of the busiest level I trauma centers of the US and one of two kidney transplant centers in the state of West Virginia. The centers are operated for well trained professionals who provide their services to the families of the state. All the medical services provided by CAMC are supported by primary care physicians of the region who frequently treat their patients in the facilities of the organization.
The CAMC health system was founded in 1984 with the objective of providing the highest health services possible to all the West Virginians. The Charleston Area Medical Center Health Services is composed by several health care service organizations. They are: the Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston Area Medical Center Foundation, CAMC Health Education and Research Institute, Integrated Health Care Providers Inc. and the Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
