The Miriam Hospital is a not-for-profit, private, 247-bed acute care general hospital located in 164 Summit Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island. The hospital was founded in 1926 by the Jewish community of Rhode Island of that time, originally on Parade Street, Providence, Rhode Island, but was moved in 1952 to its current location. In 1995, a major renovation project took place-the main lobby was updated, as well as most laboratories and some other areas, and a new two-story building was built to provide accommodation for the emergency department.
Today, it supplies a wide range of primary, secondary, and tertiary health and surgical services to adolescents and adults in more than 30 health and surgical specialties and sub-specialties. Additionally, The Miriam Hospital provides its patients with complete pathological, radiology, and cardiac services, as well as services of psychiatric consultation and liaison. It is also affiliated with Brown Medical School, and serves as a major teaching partner of that organization.
The Miriam Hospital is committed to honor its Jewish origins and serve the community providing high value health care services in a setting of education and academic inquiry into the cause, prevention, and treatment of disease.
